Mimic Party Online Privacy Policy

The short version: your voice never leaves your device. There is no account and no hidden recording. The longer version is this page: every piece of data the game touches, where it lives, and how long it stays. It was last updated on 2026-09-11.

The whole picture

All the data in one table

Mimic Party Online is a local-first game. Most of what the game knows stays on your device, and only finished ranked runs, usage statistics, and advertising involve third parties.

Your voice and the microphone

The microphone turns on only when you ask

The game requests microphone access only after you press record inside a round. You can decline the request or revoke it at any time in your browser settings, and the game will simply not be able to record. Between rounds, nothing is captured.

What happens to a recording

Your take is captured at 16 kHz mono inside your browser, played back to you, and analyzed locally by the scorer. The audio is released when the session ends, and closing the tab ends the session. There is no voice history and no archive. Nothing was ever sent to a server, so there is nothing to delete on one.

What the scorer never does

Scoring extracts four numerical features: a volume envelope, a pitch contour, onset positions, and band energies. It compares shapes, not people. It does not store a voiceprint and cannot recognize you across visits. The full method is on the scoring page.

The only server data

What the leaderboard stores

Named runs

When you finish a Survival run or Today's Stage, you can give the run a name of up to 20 characters. The submitted entry stores your chosen name, your country (derived from your connection for display), your party points, and your cleared count. Today boards reset at 8:00 AM US Eastern; All Time entries are kept since launch. Email contact@mimicparty.org to remove an entry.

Anonymous runs

Skip the name and your entry appears as your country with a masked identity. The server hashes your network address so one household gets one board slot instead of five, and the raw address is not stored or displayed.

Score verification

To keep the boards honest, every ranked run starts with a single-use token, and the submitted points are re-checked against a round-by-round ledger before the score is listed. Tokens expire within 6 hours, and submission rates are limited. This is the only reason the game talks to a server during a run.

On your side

Data stored on your device

The game keeps its own progress in browser storage on your device: your game settings, a mid-run Survival save, daily streak statistics, recently played sounds, your chosen leaderboard name, and a random viewer ID used to recognize your own row on the board. None of it is required to play, and none of it is sent anywhere by itself.

Clearing the site's data in your browser settings removes all of it. The trade-off is simple: your Survival save, streak, and saved name will be gone, as if you had visited for the first time.

Third parties

Advertising and analytics

Adsterra banner advertising

The site shows banner ads delivered by Adsterra. Adsterra and its advertisers may process device, browser, and approximate-location signals, and may set their own advertising cookies, under Adsterra's privacy policy and cookies policy. These parties do not receive your recordings or your game data. Blocking ads with a browser extension does not affect gameplay.

Google Analytics 4

The site uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used: pages visited, approximate region, device and browser, and, when you use a share button, the share method, game mode, and result tier. GA loads automatically when you open the site; we have not added a consent banner yet. If you prefer not to be tracked, Google offers an official opt-out browser add-on, and most browsers can block third-party tracking entirely. Google's own practices are described in Google's privacy policy.

Bottom lines

What we never do

NO UPLOADS

Never upload your audio

Every recording stays in your browser and is released when the session ends. No voice audio is stored on any server, by us or by anyone else.

NO TRADING

Never sell personal data

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data. The only third parties involved are the ad network and analytics provider described above.

NO ACCOUNT

Never require an account

There is no sign-up and no email capture. A leaderboard name is optional and can be anything you like, including nothing at all.

Younger players

Children

Mimic Party Online has no age gate and collects no age information, but it is a casual sound game, not a social network: there is no chat and no messaging between players. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has entered personal information, such as a leaderboard name, email contact@mimicparty.organd it will be removed. Parents reviewing this page will find the game's full data flows in the table above, and every one of them can be wiped by clearing the site's data in the browser.

Your controls

Your choices

ERASE

Clear your local data

Clearing the site's data in your browser removes saves, streaks, settings, and your saved name in one step. It is instant and cannot be undone.

UNLIST

Remove a leaderboard entry

Email contact@mimicparty.org with the name and the day it appeared. Named entries are removed on request; anonymous entries vanish at the next board reset.

BLOCK

Turn off ads and analytics

An ad blocker removes the banner without affecting gameplay, and Google's opt-out add-on or a tracking-blocking browser setting disables analytics. The game does not check for either.

Staying current

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with a new "last updated" date, and continued use after a change means the new policy applies. The effective date of this version is 2026-09-11. For any privacy question or removal request, email contact@mimicparty.org. We read everything and act on removal requests as they arrive.

Common questions

Privacy FAQ

Does the game listen when I am not recording?

No. The microphone is requested only after you press record inside a round, and it turns off when the round ends. Between rounds, and before your first take, nothing is captured.

Is my voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Recording and scoring happen inside your browser. The audio is released when the session ends, and closing the tab ends the session. No voice audio is sent to any server.

Why does the leaderboard show my country?

When a finished run is submitted, the server derives your country from your connection for display, next to your chosen name or a masked identity. No city, address, or exact location is stored.

How do I remove my name from the leaderboard?

Email contact@mimicparty.org with the name and the day it appeared, and the entry will be removed. Anonymous entries disappear on their own: Today boards reset at 8:00 AM US Eastern.

Does this site use cookies?

The game itself uses browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), not cookies. Google Analytics and Adsterra set their own third-party cookies, and both are covered in the advertising and analytics section above.
